Canoeing

These versatile boats can be paddled by either one or two people are as at home on white water as they are on a placid lake. Developed by the indigenous people of North America they are the perfect craft for expedition where they can carry plenty of equipment and even be sailed if the wind is right. We can provide you with the session to suit your requirements: Flat water introductory sessions, white water sessions, lake or river journeys; canoe sailing trips, expeditions, skill training and BCU start awards.

Flat Water Session

A Typical Session: Meet the instructor at the venue; here you will be issued with the appropriate clothing and equipment.  You will then be given an introduction to your boat and brief safety talk. As we want you to spend as much time on the water as possible the instructions on the shore will be kept to the minimum. Once on the water the instructor will teach you the basic to get going and introduce some exercises to increase your confidence in your canoe. Once you have the basics depending on the want and need of the group the instructor will introduce a mixture of activities to keep the session fun and rewarding. This may include: games; a short journey to an island or from the lake on to the river; learning new skill or developing existing ones. Near the end of the session the instructor will give you an opportunity to get wet so if you want try a capsize and rescue or jump from a jetty.   Once the boats are returned to the trailer then it will be time to get changed and return the equipment before a well earned hot drink.

What we provide: A canoe with paddle, waterproof cag, buoyancy aid and helmet.

What you need to bring: Warm clothes, trainers or water shoes and a complete change of clothes with shoes and a towel, a large plastic to put your wet clothes in would also be useful.
