Raft Building

Using barrels, wooden spars and rope, the group must build their own raft, launch it, and successfully propel it on the water. In this activity, careful planning; co-operation; co-ordination of effort and time-keeping all have an effect on your success - and how wet you get!

A Typical Session: Meet the instructor at the venue; here you will be issued with the appropriate clothing and  equipment.  You'll be given an introduction to the rafting equipment, explore some ideas for rafts, get a few top tips, then receive a safety briefing. Your team will then need to plan and design your raft. Once you have a plan you can start to build. When all the rafts are built its time to launch, practice maneuvering your craft and learn to coordinate your team. After practice the instructors will introduce a number of different races to get your competitive juices flowing. When all the equipment is returned and you're changed into dry clothes, there is an opportunity for a well-deserved hot drink.
